Primera owner fancies Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all thinking about a change my p11 Primera's ten years old now and Nissan don't do a car to fill it's shoes! Ouestion is can Octavia. Just for the record I once had an old CZ 175 that I got for free, must say it was easy to take to bits and fix. I have been spoiled since 1983 when I started with Jap cars, are skoda as good!

Better....by far. Some servicing and parts may be about the same. But the build quality is far more superior. I've owned several Nissans and always gone back to Skoda. Had two Octavias a 110SLX TDI and a vRS....the monster:thumbup:

I would recommend the Octavia to anyone in comparison to the Primera. The diesels are fairly frugal and surprisingly pokey and the petrols vary from gutless to fierce dependant on how much you wish to spend.

Reliability is very good though most of us have had niggles as opposed to major bothers....obviously there are the odd few!!

I guarantee you wont regret buying one...let us know how you get on

Wecome to Briskoda by the way:)

Hi, and welcome

Welcome :wavey:

If you need a large rear carry space, then look no further, the boot is HUGE , I have actually had a kitchen sink in the back of my previous car (octy), and been able to close the hatch :)

Hi.

Comfort, reliability, driving enjoyment, boot space - yes, with the note that there are a few bad 'uns out there.

Passenger space - I'd have to say not really (at least in back) for the A4, don't know for the A5.

If you are looking at a new one , there do seem to be a lot more people reporting several minor faults on them (me included) , far more than used to be the case for the Mk1.

It doesn't seem to be serious issues , but it can get on your nerves if you have to make repeated trips back to the dealers.

are skoda as good!

No, in a word - I've had far more little niggling things go wrong with my Octavia than I did in my P11 GT (none in 2 years of ownership) but the Skoda faults have never been showstoppers, just things like the sunroof switch failing, temp probe failing etc etc - all easy enough for a DIYer to swap at little cost.

I love the Primera GT, and think the Octavia is about as close as you can get to one, assuming you go for a Mk1! :)

I'm very happy with my Octavia.

You'll always get reported faults, on any car, and especially with the amount of owners that post on here so don't be put off.

Re-reading my post, it seems a bit negative. Let me claift: I'm very happy with the swap from Primera to Octavia (I have the Mk1), it's just that you asked which was the better built ... and it's unquestionably the Primera :D

Which Octavia are you looking at getting? Mk 1 or 2?

Welcome to Briskoda.

Changed to Skoda after having a right lemon of a Primera 2.0s auto.

I had a GT, was very happy with it aside from it being a touch bland.

Hi all Thanks for all your feedback have to say it's a o6 or 07 model octavia I fancy, can't say anything against the prim 140 k and still going strong but I've had from nearly new 4K and I think that helps. However don't want to run my next car this long. Would like 2.0 PDI but should get a 1.9 if common sense prevails!
