Active carbon filter?

Featured Replies

Behind the right headlight of my Roomster, an active carbon filter is located. Do you know the function?

No explanation is available on the booklet, just the name and picture. :thumbdwn:

I think it is supposed to filter bad smells from air going into the heater.

Hi

If the carbon filter is connected with ventilation/heating system, its function is exactly as Bryand described.

If it is closed plastic box right behind the front light and any tube/hose comes from that to intake manifold and it may have some el. connectors it may be so called evaporative loss control device (or charcoal canister) - it is also connected with the ventilation of the fuel tank. All fuel fumes are collected inside the canister. If the engine is working and has gained its normal working temperature el. control system opens the valve and fuel fumes are sucked into the intake manifold.

Thank you for your comment! I'll add a picture of that box. It is closed black plastic box right behind the front light, and 2 hoses are connected.
