I got my first Skoda a couple of weeks ago. A dark green, 2000, 1.4 Fabia Classic, the most basic of the lot! Before I owned a 1.6 98 mark 6 black Escort which got wrote off when I was on the M6 a couple of months ago. Some idiot in a Mazda cut me up and ploughed into the car in front and in turn I went into her. Wrote my car off and the claim is still going through while the insurers are assesing liabilty. So cos I was only Third Party I lost my car and I had to pay the recovery fee. All together I lost about

Congrats on your purchase. No idea about the door lock I'm afraid. Suggest posting any tech questions like that on the Fabia forum.

As for the police thing, IME they're always more interested in obvously modified and older cars, cos of a perception that they're less likely to be properly maintained, and/or driven legally.
