215 tyres and SMIC vent

Featured Replies

I have just bought 4 new Toyo T1R's in 215 flavour for my 17"s and unfortunately they are now rubbing on my pikey intercooler vent. Am I the only one to have this problem? Any suggestions on a solution?

Mine don't even come close to the arch. Are there very long bolts of some sort which are getting in the way? Does seem a little odd.

Post up a picture sounds like the arch may have dropped.

Did you put the vent borders inside the OEM arch material? They only protrude about 0.5cm on mine....

If not, you may need to remove the arch and re-position the TT vent on the inside so that it's more recessed. Also snug up the fittings and make sure that the top part clears the springs before you tighten up (ask me how I learnt that...)

I just used a bit of mesh instead of the TT vent and screwed it on from the outside. I didn't have any problems with 205 tyres but now it is rubbing on full lock. Screw heads don't stick out much, think I will have to do what you said Basil and mount it on the inside. Just need to find the time!!!

My 215 rubs on the B&Q vent I fitted. Doesn't bother me

Mine rubbed too, but car is lowered 60-70mm. Swapped back to 205's and now doesn't rub!
