Bonnet Won't Shut Properly?????

Featured Replies

I have just bought a 1999 T Felcia. The only problem I can find is that the bonnet is not shutting properly. There seems to be some slack in the cable and the release handle seems to easy to pull and push. I have followed the cable back from the bonnet latch but don't arrive at anything I can adjust away the slack.

Does anyone know where this adjuster may be as I don't have a haynes??? Or is it a case of no adjuster and replacing the cable???

Thanks in Advance for any replies.:)

On ours we just had to replace the cable.

its a difficult shift, involving lying upside down on the passenger seat to get access to the handle

:iagree:

unfortunately the cables seem to stretch and there's no satisfactory way of adjusting them!

No worries. Thanks for the quick responses.

Are they easy to replace or is it a garage job?

Is it a part that can be sourced at Halfords or a Skoda only job?

I only ask as my nearest Skoda dealer is not so near!

yes, if your're triple jointed in both arms, and can lay head first in the drivers footwell!

If it's not actually shutting properly, do you mean the catch isn't holding it fully shut. If so maybe the catch is stuck open and needs a bit lubing and freeing up. I seem to recall mine was quite dry and stiff when I got it. I also find that the bonnet never fully shuts when I 'drop' it down. I have to lower it so it rests on the catch and then push it shut firmly with the palm of my hand.

Yes a bit of WD40 seems to have free'd it up a bit. Can shut it if I press down with my hands as you describe. Cable still seems a little bit slack, but as long as it works for now, I can sort it out after crimble when it's not so baltic!

Cheers.
