New Brake Discs and Pads

Featured Replies

I'm going to need some new discs and pads soon and since I can't afford the conversion to bigger discs, i'm just wondering if anyone can recommend any particular make that I should have a look at - might as well upgrade a little rather than fitting OEM discs.

For an 02 reg 1.9 tdi Fabia.

:bump: Something I would like to know the answer too as well please.

On my Octy I will probably be going for Black Diamond grooved discs and Ferrodo DS2500 pads - I am not sure how well this combination works on the Fabia but I have heard good things about it on the Octy

It is probably worth staying clear of cross drilled discs as they have a tendency to crack around the holes due to the thermal stresses

Do you have a website that has that for sale in Fabia sized?

Try these guys

Motorsport World

They do Black Diamond, Brembo and Tarox discs and many makes of pads, including Ferrodo, Tarox, Pagid, ...

You will need to check if they do the correct sizes though

No matter how many times i go onto there website and go through the selection process of parts i need i never get a price or anything at the end. Nothing seems to appear.

Try Eurocarparts grooved discs with EBC greenstuff pads. My mate ran these for a while, they are very good.

EBC, only heard bad stuff on hear about those.

im not getting into the ebc are good/bad debate, we could be here for days. motorsportworld are very cheap if you can do them yourself. GSF do solid brembo discs for about £30 for the fabia, get ferodo pads from msw and your laughing.

alternatively jabba do mintex xtreme pads and pagid discs fairly cheap so might also be wirth a shot. im getting these fitted 1st week in Jan so will let you know.

suppose it all dpends on how much you wanna spend...

Personally, I go to the gypos down the road, and ask them for the cheapest, never done me wrong yet, and I been driving a Briskoda for 6 years.

Black diamonds + DS2500 are very good combo and well tested on here...

EBC have a new formula on their pads so the tales of woes regarding their effectiveness is a thing of the past. having run them on the Fabia for in excess of 20,000 miles I can confirm that they are 2x as good as the OEM pads, in all fairness I do only have them fitted to the rear of the car, but you can certainly tell that they are fitted and I would have no hesitation fitting them on the front as they really are THAT GOOD.

HTH, Chris.

anyone using ZeroSixty discs or Tarox Strada pads??

Awesome have recommended them (although I think Sarah just wants a review before she buys some!!)

Hi Yes

The ZeroSixty are good.

We have sold a few of these , and they have mainly been on the Mk5 Golf`s

Had good reports so far , that is why I am wanting some on my car

I would not even consider Green Stuff , even if they have changed the compounds. Sorry , but I do know that the Tarox Strada pads are excellent so why try something that "could" be better

The DS2500`s are good too

Between them you would have a seriously good set up

The Tarox discs are good too , these are heat treated so will not warp

I would steer clear of drilled discs and go for grooved ones , dimpled are good as these will not have the same problems as the drilled
