How long before blower makes heat in winter?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how long it takes before the interior fan blower makes heat and does this vary between diesel and petrol models?

I know on my vRS it takes about 3/4 min which is poor. My other diesel car takes much longer!

Thanks all!

Diesel engines are more efficient and therefore take longer to warm up. My mondeo would be producing heat within 1/2 mile, the 2.0TDi takes a while longer.

Diesels take alot longer. Not till around 10/15 mins and 5 miles ish till my Fab vRS gets warm...

Quite annoying really. I believe it is because diesels have alot more 'pig iron' upfront to warm up than petrol variants...

The 1.8T is pretty slow too. The 1.8 MK4 Astra generates hot air much faster.

Good to know guys, thought this may have been a fault with my cars! :)

Feels like it takes forever in my Fab vRS - really wish I'd ticked the box for heated seats!

Some cars do have additional heaters, which is why other marques may seem to heat up quicker
