About to order a new vRS - option opinions welcomed....

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The time has finally come to say goodbye to my trusty Superb Elegance. It's been a great car, but at 2.5 years old and 90,000 miles, the lease company are demanding it's return.

Now that I don't need quite so much space, I've settled on a new Octy vRS as my next company motor, but am really disappointed by the rather spartan options list.

Right now, I'm planning to order a race blue metallic hatchback with the following options:

Rear sunblind

Metallic Paint

Dual zone air con, jumbo box, rear elec windows

Rear parking sensors

Cruise control

Maxi-dot

Curtain airbags

18" Zenith alloy wheels

Xenon headlights

Auto dimming mirror, rain sensor, light assistant

I'm not really interested in a sunroof, but are there any other options I've missed which would be useful?

From reading the forum, it would seem that some folks have got a vRS with heated front seats. This is something I'd really like, as I've found them a fantastic bonus on the Superb on those cold, damp winter mornings. My local dealer tells me that they are not available, but I'm reluctant to believe this given that they are available in other european countries. Does anyone know how to go about speccing a factory order for them?

Also, I'd love to have a multi-function steering wheel, but this too seems to be a no go. Is it possible to get this, and still retain the 3-spoke wheel?

With regards to the audio equipment in the vRS, there doesn't appear to be any options, other than satnav. Does the car come with the Audience head unit as standard, or do I need to specify this as an option?

I'm also still a bit troubled over whether I should spend the extra money on getting the estate. The extra space really appeals, but I don't like the fact that there is such a big lip in the load area. Would the variable load area option fix this?

I'd be interested to hear from both hatch and estate owners on their relative merits.

Anyway, thanks for reading. All opinions would be warmly welcomed.

Regards,

Bagpuss.

Thought heated seats were standard ?

I don't think the heated seats are available in the UK. There has been some talk about this before.

The standard Head Unit will be a Stream MP3.

The rest of the options you mention seem just right.

The variable floor in the estate (I don't have this item) effectively raises the boot floor in line with the bumper lip thereby ultimately reducing space but making it easier if you're going to be sliding stuff in and out. The bumper height is a little lower on the estate, even if not by as much as would be desiable, but every little helps when getting the heavy stuff / dog in there.

Dog or not, I'd try and get a dog guard if you think you'll be ramming the car for safety's sake. Stuff the car to the roof without fear of flying luggage in an emergency situation...

The hatch is probably a bit more refined when it comes to road noise as the boot area is more securely enclosed.

Not sure about UK but they were definitely on the first dealer demo that I drove last Feburary here in Ireland

Xenon headlights & Washers

Check out www.skoda.ie for full options list. I tried to access it there but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment IIRC it gave the codes for the ordering aswell, so you might be able to get the heated seat code.

Hi

My VRS estate has heated seats.

Got my car from Simpsons of Colne.

They know how to order the car with them - so if all else fails - why not give them a call?

Apparently there is some way of entering it in the computer when they order the car - which fools the system! - their words - not mine!!

Cheers

Steve

What is it with you, that ain't the first outburst you've against the marque?. At the very least justify your comment!!!.

Btw, any reason as to why every word has to start with a capital letter?.

just a very dissastified Vrs owner bought the car New thinking Ahh 200bhp where is it? had a mK1 vrs that was well built in my mind a faster car!!! sold that for a furby vrs which was miles better than the Bag of ****e i'm lumbered with myself with! cant wait to get shut.

Roll on t350c day!!!!
