My 02 Octavia TDI Elegance developed a loss of power about a week ago. It seemed fine at slow speed but had no power over 2500 revs.

It was fairly typical of the symptons described on many of the threads here that relate to the MAF.

I put it into the garage and they diagnosed it as the Turbo Boost Solenoid (not sure if this relates the MAF thing you all talk about).

They replaced this at a cost of

Had a very similar problem with my octy a few days ago, VAG-COMED it and got errors regarding the MAF and the turbo boost solenoid. Basically the power was way down and it seemed to have a range of flat spots from 1700RPM onwards .

The garage suggested that the boost solenoid error message could also have been a side effect of a dogey MAF so we just replaced the MAF first (

It has been fine ever since that one glitch.

I will go in and see the garage and put the MAF thing to them. It is weird it has only happened once. Though I expect if it happens once it will re-occur.

What is a 'Turbo Boost Solenoid' then? That can't be refering to the n75 valve can it? I though they were about £30?

This could give me something else to look at for my continuing intermitant turbo issues.....
