Just checked my manual and the tow hook is near the front grille.

However the manual talks about atatching a tow eye and screing it on- Where exactly are you meant to get that from ?

There should be a something that looks like this --O in the spare wheel case in your boot!

Yep it's the big silver towing eye in the spare wheel well. Oh and remember it's a left handed thread to screw it in

And is it on the nearside or offside that this towin eye gets screwed into - Manual says left which I think means offside...?

Also - It seems quite hard to get the grille piece off easily -

Anybody know any tips to make it easier?

Looking at the front of the car, it's on the left hand side (the offside).

Just yank it, it'll be fine! I have mine in and out everytime I wash it...

Don't use a screwdriver! :eek: Just get hold of the middle slat (iirc there's cut away underneath to give you something to hold onto) and pull (with your hands).

Post up pics of the broken bits tomorrow for my amusement... (only joking)

No! good hard tugging at it will get it off, especially if you look at the pictures in the new manual at the same time, seems to give it more oomph

I find the towing bar to be rock solid as opposed to the floppiness of a rope

The towing eye will fit inbetween the standard bumper fitting on a "standrad" tDI bumper.
