If i could see your car without being ripped £12 for it - then maybe i would...

£12 is a bit extortianate isn't it?

I mean it doesn't state any discounts, weekly/monthly/annual briskoda magazine - nil pois

for a £5 membership fee on clubpolo i get adrian flux insurance discount - amounting to over £50 - gsf discount - a annual magazine and a free sticker and a membership card...

What the hell is briskoda playing at? a complete con for some mods to get ****ed?

Hmmmm:thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Helpful

If you don't want to pay it then don't pay it! FYI you do get a car sticker and for my part I think that £1 a month is not asking much to support such a fabulous and helpful community such as this one.

Excellent car, and very impressed with your work as you know.

It's a good job I wasn't about when you posted this.

If you don't like Briskoda then feck orf and don't post anymore.

 I am finding myself agreeing with Mr Grumps

Keeping an eye on this motor, ;)

Is this a first?

Thank you pixi:D

As for the car, well, I wish it were mine ( apart from the colour).

I must be in a good mood today:)

:wrthless:

Always wanted to do that :D

Bah humbug, its Christmas (ish) - donate £12 so that this site can remain at the forefront of forum sucess and technological ability. My head hurts...

I love your car fella, I cant tell you how gutted I am for you regarding the poorly engine, especially as to how well thought out everything has been.

Watching with interest! :)

seeing as all i get is a complete slating whenever i post a genuine concern - why should i?

I know i dont drive a skoda - but am still a member of the VAG scene and thus why im here - not looking and causing trouble but trying to genuinely get to know your forum a bit...

Ill quite happiily pay - when the membership is WORTH the money for what you get...

In fact i will donate a fiver for my 6 posts or whatever and the good reading the forum has bought me so far - but please do not by any means think or be under the impression that the forum needs all that cash - especially when the package you get for it is very poor and NO DISCOUNTS :thumbdwn:

I admit forums dont come free and do need moderation and money for hosting / design and maintenence - which is very doable considering the amount of claimed "members" rising everyday and paying a fee...

just my 2p on the situation

Mine looks a lot like Neo_VR's one usually, unless it's been cleaned

Can I ask for a favour from the mods to clean up this thread, I don't really want it to turn into a 'pay for freedom or not' type thread, and this thread was intended to allow some open discussion ;)

WW_VRS - The only thing you seem to have failed to mention about your car is what sort of airfreshner you have. Sounds like a mega fast beast

And as to DaveG40 - There are some benefits about being a freedom member, but IT IS ABOUT SUPPORTING THE SITE!!!

The site cost money to run, why should ColinD front up the costs of something we all use.

Up the price and I would still happily shell out.

You mention that you get these discounts with that polo club, but it would appear to have been closed over Christmas and New Year, I would hardly call that value for money :finger:

The non orange indicators sound interesting, have you got any pics?

It's a shame people have to rise to the bait WW_VRS.

Fair point about clubpolo being offline for chrimbo etc - but they are conveniently relocating the forum to a new server so that the site can be hosted in the UK (previously the USA) which will reduce connection delays and should make things a little nicer considering the amount of use of the forum.

Also the change has been advertised for well over 2 months - with a complete section being opened to raise any concerns / issues with the move.

Now if they are doing that from a mere £5 membership - show me what and where briskoda are doing to deliver that quality to thier "freedom members"...

in other words - why not instead of dish the dirt - tell me why i should become a freedom member - if the mods want to clear the post feel free - no worries...

However i will state this - i am not in any way starting a why to / why not to join freedom thread - if its for the sake of looking at one car in the few months ive been here so far and not even read / heard / or had mentioned the freedom thing before - i wouldn't have posted in the first place.

If one would be so kind as to put some actual piccies for me to see without wasting £12 for the privelage and gain a "sticker" also - feel free and ill disucss the car like everyone else...

Sorry I thought you could see it, I was under the impression non-freedom members couldn't post :(

Apologies that was not the intention, I will edit the FIRST post of this thread so you CAN see it :(

PS No pics yet as it looks pretty much standard except for a round blue flame exhaust pipe showing I suppose :)

By no means are you to be apologetic for the above, i should have been more "understanding" to the freedom members opinions of the membership.

Thanks for sorting the piccies

Ill take a quick look in a mo and let you know what i think...

Hi - haven't got any pics with the fried egg effect removed vs not removed, but basically it is still orange inside, it just has some kinda metallic looking glow when you look at the bulb when not lit.

Are those Diadem bulbs? A silvery blue sheen to them when they're not lit?

Always been impressed by your sig but the full spec list is even more impressive. Oh and  to the Michelin Tyre Inflator :rofl::rofl:

Can't wait to see the results of the custom map in the new year :D

Dare I ask how much it all cost :o:D

On the bulb front I must admit I can't quite remember as I recently did SWMBOs lights on her Kia Picanto, got told these indicator bulbs are illegal (which is BS btw as they meet the appropriate MOT standards etc).

Both Philips and Osram have been used 'in a mix' between the two cars, still got to fit some all-weather fog light bulbs one day.

@Chris - well I thought as I was spending a crazy amount of time typing it all up I might as well use it as an inventory list ;)

Don't knock the Michelin tyre inflator, it's very good :P :P

Cost wise it is a little trickier, I've sold off the standard turbo a while back for a low price to help out someone here, and the stage 1 hybrid might find a good home somewhere in the next year (post having the stage 2 on, which APS is doing/has done).

The total amount is pretty much something that you shouldn't look at, it is quite depressing ;)

The recent repairs were quite painful with regards cost, new camshaft etc didnt benefit me at all (other than being able to use the engine I suppose ;)).

I reckon actual parts for the car including fitting ( a lot of which was done by Stu for a lot less money then anywhere else) would be 5k+ quite comfortably.

December 2006 repairs + some tweaking including brake pads, 60k service and short shifter/baffled sump/camshaft/valves/head gasket/exhaust wrap etc will be getting near the 2k mark by the time it is done and properly working.

I reckon a remap will be another 600ish quid on top as I'll have to incorporate some RR time + hotel possibly. Fek me I've basically spent enough to buy a second car :P:D

Great fun though, and as long as not too much else goes like this particular thermostat failure, the car is holding up very well :)

Can't wait to get that custom mapping done, but based on recent discussions/events with regards injectors, it may be a few more months before I get the max potential out of it :(

the car is holding up very well :)

Out of all that blurb :P ;) I had to pick out this little gem and concur wholly. Mine tends to not get much tlc during this time of year due to the weather and me not being ar5ed sometimes. :D and to have it start every time I get in, have no issues whilst on the move, and to generally be 100% reliable, is very much a +++ point in my book.
