Dump Valve

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago I posted a mail (on Vortex) asking whether anyone had any experience of a Hyperboost diverter valve which releases excess pressure into the airbox.

Someone mentioned that I should be careful of this as this would mess up the air/fuel ratio due to the MAF being after the airbox.

Well I asked AmD what's this all about as I thought it was strange that a respectable tuner would sell a a device that didn't operate as per OEM. Here's the response I got this morning....

"[i:f42e91bbed]The Hyperboost valve works in the same way as the OEM valve which is that it recurculates the air within the system rather than venting it to atmosphere,....."[/i:f42e91bbed][/quote:f42e91bbed]

So there you have it....confused? I am; even more now than I was to begin with. :?

I think I'll leave the DV alone for now

Cheers.

Adrian.

adrian,

when i was in awesome earlier this week, i asked them about the forge dv. they told me not to bother unless something goes wrong with it, but in their experience, they are hearing less now of troublesome stock dv's than say, 18 months ago.

this was good for two reasons:

1. i didn't shell out for something i didn't need and hopefully won't

2. i feel i can trust their advice as its the 2nd time they've discouraged me from spending more money there!! ( 1st time when they told me not to bother getting fault code erase with the APR chip )

right, off to work now!

Thanks Huck!

My initial inquires were due to the experience of others, on Vortex, with the OEM DV and the need to improve response.

With my plans to get my vRS APR-ed and your new info I'll not bother with changing the DV.

Cheers.

Adrian.

I'v orderd a Forge DVR valve yesterday from england. Hope to see it soon :)

  • 4 years later...

I had AMD fit me a dump valve when they remaped my vRS. they told me it had to be a recirculation type as a vented to atmosphere valve would create problems. however, i have just bought and fitted a "Cold air induction kit". which does away with all of the standard air box and comprises of a custom made polished aluminium air inlet pipe which goes from the inlet manifold, down the side of the battery and in to the front bumper where the horns are located. A cone style cotton\gause filter(NOT OIL COATED) is bolted on to this pipe, thus the filter only sucks cold air. (All brackets and clips were in the kit) I have found that this improves not only throttle responce, but vastly improves the noise made by the dump valve, making it sound like a "Vented to atmosphee" valve. Price was reasonable too. Hope this helps.:orb_geek:

It would have helped 5 years ago when the question was posted :D :D :D :D

All mickey taking apart ........ at least you used the search facility

Did your Dump Valve also take you Back To The Future?

Thought that was the Flux Capacitor?:D

oups!:o never noticed the date. :(

Thought that was the Flux Capacitor?:D

I bought a Flux capacitor form Yabba tuning but it never really worked very well. I had to replace the motor in the Kenwood Chef twice to achieve full time/space continuim bending like.

:rofl::D

If you get a dump valve from Hman Resources they work for a lifetime

i was looking for the continue'um transfunctioner.

dude wheres my car???

I'm running a Hyperboost valve on my vRS.

Cant fault it, although i dont notice any difference in noise/performance between this and the OEM Bosch item.

It was on the car when i bought it, but if i had spent money on it myself, i wouldn't be too impressed with it.

If you were closer you'd be welcome to try it.
