Well guys - The bad news is that it is not the fuses - Replaced all fuses which were in drivers dashboard and which affected the ignition / engine system. I also have ruled out fuse 2 under the battery.

The good news ? There is none - Its probably the ECU thats packed up and its not going to be worth repairing - The best new year I ve ever had :(

Why are you so negative, stopping taking wild stabs in the dark and either wait until you've had it looked at or got your cable sorted.

To be honest you seem to be airing on the side of the very worst side of things and there is no need.

I would bet a tenner that the solution has already been put forward and you just haven't implimented it. It can only be a limited number of things and it's usually the simplest.

Even if it was the ECU get a recoded 2nd hand one or recon.....not so expensive compared to the cost of a new car/new ecu

I still think there is a fault in the Immobiliser circuit , especially if this circuit is close to or shared with the dash light circuit , I bet a 2nd hand speedo binnacle would fix it. Good luck with it tho , you will have to put us out of our misery and tell us what was wrong when it is finally fixed!

Immobilizer wont stop the car starting, nor will it kill the dash insert.

You seem to have spent more on time, effort, various leads, and programmes than chucking it into the dealers and driving around for a week, enjoying your fabia

I have not been able to think of anything else all week.

Guess what - After hookin up VAG COM, albeit a failing VAG COM s no connection could be made and returning one hour later, for a final fianl try IT WORKS.

Dash lights are back , Engine starts straight away.....

Question now is - What the feck caused this and should I be part exing this car this weekend for a 1998 Ford Fiesta :( to avoid hving to deal and see the same problem...

You are right - It would have been easier, both in terms of tim and probably money to have got this to the delaers - BUT The car didnt move and I could nt undertand what was causing it so I didnt want to get ripped off at the stealers.

I just hope it doesnt happen again in the future becuase I ve been a nervous wreck in the last few days.

No idea. Getting the codes read will tell you.

I will tell you one thing however. If this one episode has made you this stressed the Fiesta will probably kill you in a month tops

Had the same defect. It was the instrument cluster assy.

Another defect associated is not being able to reset maint/oil service even with VAG-COM

Another - No warning sounds/beeps or indicator tick tock

Solution. Disconnect all power [battery] and leave over night.HArd reset cures this

How did you find the solution = troubleshooting. Cheapest options first.

Just remebered another small item. The immob/alarm has to be re-programmed [configured] to the key when the instrument assy is replaced. So that function is routed through it.

Hope this Might help somebody.

the next time it happens , you will know what not to check anyway

get some practise on the VAGCOM then you can check it out first and get the codes
