Roller Skate or Real vRS?

Featured Replies

Hmm. Been thinking hard over the weekend about this. Wasnt looking at change the beloved Furby but after a recent visit to the dealers I noticed a Octavia vRS for sale and it got me thinking.

So here goes. Do I keep the furby and fork out around

Had the very same dilemma myself at the end of last year John.

Drove one or two of them including a mapped one and found it really hard to drag myself away from that nagging desire. Kept thinking that the Fabia wasn't very old, went well and did everything I ever needed - Why did I need an Octy vRS??

The build quality and comfort levels are much better, it has a whole host of safety features that the Fabia doesn't.

That's not to say that the Fabia isn't a good car, it is very good.

Now I love the extra performance, extra boot space and extra comfort. Ok so I put a bit more fuel in but that is ofset slightly by the servicing as you have already eluded to.

The meagre increase in insurance cost was quite pleasing too.

Need to get an insurance quote today. looking at a £200 increase I think.

Worked out the running costs of both cars over 16K miles. That includes service, tyres, mot, tax and fuel.

Fabia is £171.17 @ 45mpg @ £0.94

Octavia is £213.36 @ 35mpg £0.95

When excluding fuel costs

Fabia £51.17

Octavia £50.50

Well just phoned the insurance. For Jan to Nov it will increase

Have you shopped around?

I'm with Sainsbury's (esure).

I had some pretty wild quotes when I bought mine, I was insured with Admiral at the time and they wanted silly money so I cancelled the policy and switched to what happens to be a much better policy.

Take a look at Quidco as well for some pretty good cashbacks -

Insured with Adrian Flux.

Thanks for your help stu (as usual) Think I'll leave it now.

No problem.

don't leave it man get shopping around for better quotes!!

insurance is such a minefield you never get one quote and leave it at that.

I must admit that would be my thoughts but if the man doesn't want then the man doesn't want.

Are they still offering 3 years free servicing on the Octy

Doesnt help when you say L in your postcode

I guess I am in a nice area. If I were to insure it under my parents address in Bradford my premium would double... at least... if not more
