Roller Skate or Real vRS?

John I think another factor to consider is that you've had the Furby from new and know it's history and faults etc, whereas with the Octy you don't know how it's been treated over it's 54k miles. Although if you do buy it from a dealer then you will get a years warranty with it?

Very true indeed and thats another reason I'm going to keep it. :)

Yeah they do come with a years warranty and breakdown I think.

I was getting in excess of 2k quotes when insuring my Octy...26 yr old 9points and 0 ncb :o

But in the end got it with the AA for 1k...and even on their own site and through the phones i was getting stupid quotes.

Oh tesco wanted 8k!!

Already have. :)

Stick to the furby ;)

I cant believe some of the quotes on this thread! I was looking at an Octy vRS a few weeks ago as I still have that desire to have another one , I went onto Direct Lines website for a quote and it came out at £294 FC with Protected NCD , 9000 miles a year , car garaged and £350 voluntary excess. Im 37 , with 9 years NCD and with a TD15 post code. FYI it would be £265 for a Fabia vRS and I pay £137 for my Fabia 1.4 Mpi comfort. Houses are still cheap up here if anyone wants to move......:)

Ps when I bought my 1st Octy vRS I was paying £475 , that was July 2001 when I was 31.

Two very important words ..... MOVE HOUSE !!!!!!!!

Thats the plan. :D But after the wedding.

For "my" first car I had a Pug 405 1.6 when I was 18. I was paying £1600 TPFT

Even my dad's insurance on the Octy II L&K is above £500 and thats with 100years ncb and no claim or points

I was paying £1200 TPFT in 1990 for a 2.0S Capri , but that was pre Direct insurance , when you had to do it thru your local rip off merchant like the Coop!

Just be sure the policy meets or exceeds your needs Matt, unfortunately these days we all tend to be obbsessed with the price of the policy and not so with the details.

I have got him to fax the quotation so that i can have a good read of the terms and conditions.

I agree the price might look good, but is the policy itself that counts.

Yep.... one of the reasons I stick with churchill..... the policy is spot on for what I want/need

Good point, I found a stunning deal but I couldn't drive other cars 3rd party :thumbdwn: In the end Adrian Flux were the ones to get my money.

Get the yellow pages and talk to people - I spent a good week on and off ringing and internetting and the phone was consistently cheaper - despite the '10% online discount' they all seem to offer.

Surely just coughing up for the insurance would be cheaper?

Steve, I ended up going through Adrian Flux and got a 25% discount for being a member of advanced-driving.co.uk and having a RoSPA qualification (although proof of neither was requested!) which blew my other quotes out of the water

I asked about this when I renewed.

Just need to find the time to do it. Hoping for the April to August time.
