waiting to see what will need replacing in the next 10k

Featured Replies

happy new year to you peeps first off! aint been around for a while.

anyway! thinking back to my old 1.4 bearings went about 60k, needed new suspension bushes, steering sensor, new breaks.

my fabia has hit 67k now and nothing, no sign of any ware and tare yet! apart from the heated seat not working whats going to need to be replaced soon.

cambelt and alternator belts been changed. and its serviced up to date i would like to know so i can put some extra money to the side so ill have enough for it to be repaired if something wares out. anyideas whats next? :)

cheers

just stick £10 or £20 a month to one side anyway if you can't afford things as and when they happen so that you have a little car repairs/tax/insurance type pot.

A few bits and bobs that might affect you:

- Track rod end wearing (apparently a wear and tear item)

- Air con evaporator sensor

- PAS sensor

- Clutch pedal assembly snapping

- Seat base squeaking/rocking

and wear 'n' tear items....

- Replacement shocks

- Replacement clutch?

- Battery (more age related than mileage)

Were your brakes replaced recently? I'd expect them to be showing some form of wear at 67k miles ;) Oh, and also was the water pump changed when the cambelt was done?

All I have to add is R B

No, I mean the actual waterpump changed :D

If you want to check the state of the brake pads there's an inspection "window" in the top of the caliper and you can see how thick the pad material is which'll give you an indication of how soon they'll need changing :D

Chris

Brakes will probably set you back about £150-200 notes depending on whether you fit yourself or not.

Also I would check the pads manually yourself as mine were NOT checked by the dealer at the 50k service and they were on the metal

If you replace the cambelt definitely replace the water pump, tensioners etc at the same time. The water pump tends to go wrong post-changing the cambelt and most of the cost is labour anyway. Might as well do it right :)

i never even thought about changing the actual pump! ahhh ill sort that out in the next service seems to be running fine for now. the cambelt change was the most risky thing to blow the engine up right?
