HELP!!! Fabia electrics gone wild

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I own an 05 Fabia vRS and lately the electrics seem to be going mad. i have 3 main problems:

1- The boot light will not go off ever!

2 - The boot handle itself only works when it wants to although it will open from the key fob every time?!!

3 - The drivers door switch doesnt seem to be working because the interior lights do not come on when you open it, and the other day, i unlocked the car and left my keys on the seat whilst i went put the bin bags out, and it locked itself with the keys inside!

Any help would be greatly appreciated because it is driving me mad

Nick

They all sound like dodgy switches, in the case of the boot light its stuck on and the other one is stuck off.

The car will autolock if it thinks a door has not been opened since being unlocked.

The car's under warranty isn't it?

I dont know if it would be under warrenty as i had it serviced by third party garages not skoda dealers as i thought my mods would invalidate the warrenty anyway?

If you have had the service book stamped up by an independent garage and they have used Skoda parts then the warranty should still stand. Besides, your car's faults are purely electrical and not in any way mechanical-related.

2 - The boot handle itself only works when it wants to although it will open from the key fob every time?!!

Mine does this sometimes, I've found that is you make sure all the doors are unlocked by pressing the switch inside the car the boot will normally open.

I seem to remember searching the site and finding something about the boot switch shorting out or something..............might be worth doing a search ;)

As for warrenty as long as it's within the 3 year 60k and the servicing has been done by a VAT registered garage with Skoda parts there should not be a problem, and to be fair Skoda will probably authorise the work without checking.
