Hi all,

A mate of mine is going to uprate the intercooler on his evo 8 and my question is, can I use his standard mitsubishi one on my octavia? with some custom pipe work of course. :confused: :confused:

Any help/tips would be great. Cheers. jim.

I asked a similar question a while back and people here claimed I/C design is a bit of a black art and the air flow through it is crucial. Get it wrong and you could have the wrong effect.

would anyone that makes ICs be able to help you out in terms of will it work. Lease if they do them they might help you out with the pipe work

Youd want one with the outlets at the same end IIRC as thats where the stock intercooler sits.

Something like this with the outlets on the same side

If you get the Evo one its going to be really awkward with the pipework as the inlet and outlet are at opposite ends.

if you think about it, if your prepared to do all the custom pipe work then you can get any thing to fit, no matter where the conection pipes are. its just easier if they are on one end. i beleive that one of the ABD front mount exits at the other end. ask beretta! he has one.

your only real concern has got to be restricting the air flow to your rad etc with it, but its free and got to be worth a shot if you ask me!!!

I've got the ABD intercooler same as Beretta, works fine.

IIRC you can have to much cooling which totaly fooks the works up!

Nice when it's free, waste of effort & dosh when it don't work!

The ABD Racing one that I have has the inlet and outlet pipes at opposite ends and works really well, and cannot be faulted.

Just be careful when fitting intercoolers designed for other cars to the Octy vRs, as too much space in the intercooler will rob you of boost etc.

I figured itd be easier as the standard intercooler is tucked away at the side. The jabbasport one is the same design too
