To Dump or Not To Dump!

Featured Replies

Although I haven't got my Octy vRS just yet I was wondering what the consensus of opinion is on aftermarket dump valves, the best and the quietest?

I used to own an Escort RS Turbo some years back and a good way of extracting more power was to change the Actuator rather than chip (chipping being next stage). Is this something that can be done with the vRS engine or is chipping/remap the best bet.

Opinions welcome.:orb_wave:

you cant get away with the old tricks like that as the ECU will stop it with the CEL id guess.

Best thing to do is to get a remap

Id prefer to keep the standard recric valve, not a big fan of dump valves.

Oh and remap definitely.

You can get uprated recirc valves, Bailey DV30 or Forge 007P being good examples of these

For extra power you will need a remap since changing the standard closed loop diverter valve (recirculating 'dump valve') for an uprated one will not add any more power but it will be more reliable since the diaphragm in standard one is prone to split under high boost applications.

i had an ecort rs turbo before aswell!! you will love the octy.

as for the dump valve, i went for a bailey recirculationg one. as far as i am concerned i couldn't have the atmospheric one like the one i had on the escort as that is what me escort sounded like. so i had to go for either the recirculating one or the venturi type one. i settled with the recirculating one to save the hassle with the venturi style one. although it would be interesting to find out what the venturi one sounds like if you fancy trying some thing different!! but thats just my opinion.
