standard stereo problem

Featured Replies

ive moved this thread to here as it seems more appropriate

ive got a problem with my standard head unit out of my mk1 octavia VRS,

the display works fine in the day but i can see it at night as its not lit up, is this just a fuse in the back or a more dificult fault or does it have controls to turn it down which is why i cant see it at night?

also does the standard 6 disk boot changer play copied disks as ive only tried it with some copies i have but it dosnt seem to want to work, its all connected properly too as when you press the cd button the display changes to disk1

Wonfa,

Can't really shed any light (pardon the pun:rofl: ) regarding the lighting problem with the stereo fascia; however there is a dashboard light rheostat control that will dim the entire dashboard lights next to the headlight leveller switch…It is bound to be something stupid though that has gone for a sh!t on it:eek: ….

Some multichangers refuse to play copied cd’s, however I have the standard head unit and multichanger in mine and I have no problems what so ever in playing them….luckily!! I would however try a genuine cd just to see what happens before you do anything else!!

Oh, saft question but have you checked that the cd’s have been put in the correct way up? I’ve done that once or twice in the past….:o

i know its not the dimer switch on the dash as i tried that, i havent had chance to try an original cd yet as im at work but i will later:thumbup:

I don't have the original head unit in my car, but could it be just a case of the backlighting for the LCD panel has failed?
