'What NOT to Drive' by Richard Hammond

Featured Replies

Has the man changed his mind again? I seem to remember that he was quite impressed with it after the race with the Mini Cooper. It must have been that 300 mph knock on the head he suffered at Elvington.

Would anyone on here buy a car for around £80k that does 5 mpg, gets you to your destination but NOT home, and everytime you drive it you're thinking , when will it break down.

Or even a 1970's gas guzzling overpriced 2nd hand american car ?

NO I think not, but there are certain TG presenters who would.

Anyway - Who cares we are happy with our skoda's

Actually, having driven a Prius (admittedly an older one) he has a point.

I'd have to agree with you there! not nice to drive at all!

If we all liked the same cars it'd be a very boring world, some people love Skoda's some people hate them, some people love gas guzzling 6 litre american yank tanks, some people hate them, some people like smart cars etc etc.

So long as you accept the fact that not everyone will be impressed no matter what you drive then you can just get on with enjoying what you like, there will always be brand images that are considered 'better' but what is better to one man is not to another.

Well i bought my Fabia for 1 reason only.

Fuel economy..

Oh and reliabilty ( suppose thats 2 then)

Seeing as i do 90 miles a day to and from work i was using my Astra sxi and using 35-40 quid a week in juice. Now i am using 25-30 in diesel a week. Cant argue with that and seeing as i am looking at Bio fuel/diesel as well ( cant find a cheap supplier round west yorkshire yet, 89.9 in Halifax,) so save more all round.

Me i dont care what people think, say or do so long as the Fabia gets me from A to B and B to A safley.

He is apart of the Topgear is he not !!

If so that show is all about 'Would my P.E.N.I.S look bigger in this' then actual car information and objective and informative reviews of the cars on the road.

It's actually a little thing in life called 'entertainment'
Let's be honest; if you had to spend an evening down the pub with any of them you'd either kill them or yourself to get out of it.

Try "Stones bar" in Chipping Norton - Clarkson sometimes frequents it on a Sunday afternoon, but please don't kill yourself if you have to speak to the lanky git.

I could see if I could out-bore him by talking about corporate audio-visual installations with... pointless pauses and *raises eyebrow* crap analogies.

I spent twelve years in the RAF and can honestly say that very few fast jet jockeys drive flash cars as they get their thrills in the air, so he is talking out of his a**e!

Cheers,

Steve

Amen to that! That should be posted in all those vRS vs USS enterprise type threads....:P

The VRS has far more photon torpedo launches, and they're what matter out in the nebula.

Why would anyone buy a car because it's "cool" anyway?

The only cars Hammond and his mates think are cool that I'd drive, I can't afford.

Or about how quickly you can wear out a set of tyres. It's an entertainment show, not a motoring show. I'm not keen really, but lots of people are.

Well said, I am a fan, but you've put that across really well

Well it's on the BBC so technically it should be a 'public service' show.
