Fabia REAR brake upgrade? comments?

Featured Replies

I'd appreciate some advice:

I understand that at least some 70+% of the braking on a bike comes from the front brakes (dunno about a car). Also once you activate ABS the brakes are delivering their maximum stopping power.

I love the 312mm brake upgrade - I feel that they made a huge difference in slowing down.

I still have the OEM 288mm Front discs/calipers stored.

Can these be physically fitted to the rear of the Fabia vRS? The rears look tiny, especially with the 312mm's up front.

Would this make any difference to slowing down?

Thanks for any comments/advice

Cheers

Bas

Basil,

I would leave them alone as the rears don't need to do much anyway.

Hya :)

From what I remember there isn't much point as the rear ones don't heat up enough as it is to keep the crud off.

Also the rear brakes have the handbrake stuff on them, not sure if the front set can be fitted for that reason :)

Tut tut tut Basil, I thought a man of your stature would have used the search button first ;)

Well covered on here in the past, fronts cant be fitted to the rear quite rightly as there is no handbrake on the front calipers.

A company called ECS do a 308mm rear brake upgrade... its more for the looks than the function... it retains the std calipers with adaptors and adds some f**koff huge hub-bells and discs.

The Fabia and TT rear brakes are different, the TT brakes are vented.

Ah right ok, wondered how they made the caliper wider

Miss match of pictures there i think.

They state 22mm wide discs which will be vented, the Fabia discs are solid and only 8mm wide iirc.

Plus I think the above picture is of a vented disc, even the 180 quattro has vented discs, plus it lists them as vented in the auction.

It would be purely for looks this wouldn't it?

If you do go ahead Basil, make sure to take some snaps :D
