Let an Arosa TDI start to come round me leaving a 30 into a 60.

i had a polo 1.4 tdi which has the same engine as the arosa which was remapped to just short of 100bhp. It Used to be able to keep up with standard vrs's up to about 70mph where they would leave me for dust. it must have been remapped or there is something wrong with your vrs!!!!

i had a lupo 1.4tdi for ages, and then a polo 1.4tdi... and it's a cracking little engine too, when a lupo/arosa tdi is remapped it would have no trouble at all keeping up with fabia vrs

I agree, 1.4Tdi engine is great. Seen many A2 Tdi's travelling quite comfortably at 110 on M5...

Small car, pokey engine - great combo... thrifty too... Might just get one... downsizing is all the rage now aint it?

Had one as a loan car. They are pretty light and suprisingly nippy. I would imagine it was remapped if it scared your vRS. :eek:

Hmm, sounds interesting. Do the Lupo / Arosa TDi's come with a remotely sporty spec ala vRS?

They need to do a Lupo/ Arosa GTi with the Ibiza PD 160 engine.....now THAT would kick botty cheeks.....

Even the PD130 under the bonnet would be a frightening affair.

I've seen a standard Lupo GTi going for it and that was pretty quick, mainly I imagine due to the fact they weigh the same as a crisp packet. With the torque of a TDi (especially mapped) I can believe they would scare a standard vRS to a point before the added weight and power of the vRS allows it to leave it at higher speeds.

Just checked a Parkers claim the Arosa ways in at 965kg so I suspect in the real world it'll be very nimble (especially with it being less nose heavy than the vRS too)

the Sport TDI is quite nippy, as is the Sport Petrol and the GTI (although I don't think there's much between the Sport and GTI in real terms)

if you race against a standard lupo gti in a fabia vrs you will basically get laughed at!!!

Lupo GTI is 125bhp, and about 1050kg, with about 110lbs/ft of torque... wouldn't be long before the weight advantage was irrelevant.

You really have to wind the GIT and the Sport right out to get anywhere!

Unless there were any corners or tight twisties to contend with where having a better front to back weight balance will mean you can carry lots of speed through corners. It's not all about torque

You sure they are just short of 100bhp???:confused: I thought they only had 75bhp?:confused: Anyways, my mum has one, it feels a sprightly wee car but definetly doesnt feel like 100bhp!!!

yup. my mates lupo is a 100bhp sport, very low on coilovers and has ronal 10 turbos 15inch wheels a full janspeed exhaust de-cat and pipercross induction kit and has been dynod at 111bhp. his car also keeps up with my mate gaz's lupo gti.

my vrs is remappped to approximatly/guessed 170-180bhp depending on outside temp and leaves his lupo as tho it was standing still.

its difficult to believe that a 1.9tdi five door skoda hatch is capable of such things.

people at work laughed when i bought the skoda!! having let a few of them out for a spin in it i get comments like "its not bad this" and "pulls well" all of them trying not to admit to liking the car.

i do think that gaz cannot drive tho as i would expect the gti to be as fast if not faster than the vrs as it has a quoted 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds

yer, am not disputing that, even the tdci mondeo in standard form is quite quick.

wat i ment to say is the skoda supprises alot of ppl. i am not saying its a performance car beater as others on here have suggested (bmw 535) cos thats rubbish.

wat lupo do you own? the gti is lighter than the others, iirc it has more alloy parts like bonnet etc.

Sorry, thought you meant a standard one. Yes, a remapped one would dispatch one.

The Lupo GTi weighs 978KG and has 125BHP as standard , sounds fun! Just as a comparison , my Fabia has a kerb weight of 1190KG and 68 bhp (vRS is 1310KG).
