I have recently bought a 2000 1.3 felicia lxi locally. Goes fine, starts every time and ex motability with regular servicing from Skoda dealer in Bristol. However, it is very sluggish at higher speeds. Have been used to 16 valve cars before so am not used to lower power band, even so it struggles to get beyond 70 unless downhill and with following wind.

I am told this is not normal. Anyone got any ideas before I go back to dealer. Have heard broken catalyst can cause car to be underpowered.

my exhust back box colapsed inside from corision, and cut the power down to that of a trbant

sorted out own problem, motability previous owner, so needed a proper sprint up the road and some redex to sort it out. Now running lovely.

We had similar problem when I got our 1.3 Mpi Felicia because it was owned by an elderly gent and as such had never gone above 40mph. When we bought it the idling was poor, the fuel consump crap etc etc. So it got a service from me (oil & filter, air filter, brake adjustment) a blast down the A1 at 80 mph for 3/4 of an hour and after a new cam sensor was fitted as well now performs brilliant and is pulling fine and returning 40mpg.

got a new exhust for mine. what a differance! so much more power.
