40K service

Featured Replies

My car had its 40K service yesterday and when I collected it this morning I was asked to hand over

I'd imagine...fuel filter, oil filter, air filter...oil plug, 4 spark plugs. Not sure on number 8 though...

It would be a good price if it wasn't for pesky VAT... :grumpy:

Rob.

Oh, and I suspect the extra

Hmmm - something I'm not looking forward to is another 40K TDI Fabia service... Well, one makes mistakes and one must pay for them I guess. :D

How much was the oil they use out of curiousity? I remember mine being flippin' expensive IIRC!

Q,

I guess your on fixed servicing so perhaps #8 is 5litres of oil (Mutligrade 1000???).

I'm indeed on fixed servicing. So nothing to suspicious then?

One thing I am a bit miffed about is that they now tell me that my rear-pads are going to need replacing soon... Strange that when I asked them 2 weeks ago (when the pad GB was going) they were fine. Oh well, must have been all that hard braking whilst it sat parked at Stansted :(.

Isn't the brake fluid supposed to be changed at the 40k service? That or at 2years......may be your RS has had it done already?

I have a whole list of things that are supposed to be done attached to my bill. I'll see if I can get the scanner going tonight and post it. It does mention brake fluids change every 2 year.

The one I expected to see (the old sump plug washer) isn't there (or is that #5)? I'd agree with Adrian that 8 is your oil. One of the filters *could* be the pollen filter - otherwise I'd agree with Rob on the Fuel, Oil and Air filters.

It still always beats me that they don't ring you and let you know that pads etc. are near the end of their life. If they are that close, I'd rather they just swapped them there and then, while the wheels are off anyway. Shtoopid.

My last service (30k longlife) came to less than yours, and included brake service and fluid change, but then again, I only pay

Do Skoda put in an engine cleaning additive? I know its part of a Citroen service and #8 is about the right price for this kind of treatment.

HI Quentin

Here is a list of what the parts are against the item numbers

2 Oil Filter

3 Air Filter

4 Pollen filter

5 Sump Plug

6 Spark plugs

7 Fuel filter

8 Oil

The spark plugs seem a bit expensive at

Thanks Dougal, that matches most people's expectations. What would you say is a normal price for plugs? Not that it matters now, but it might help someone else.

It depends on what ones went in. IIRC the one Skoda use are the quad spark champion plugs (the ones with four electrodes if the name is wrong), which are not cheap, so although they are cheaper in halfords, for a main dealer they are probably about right.

5 units (litres?) of oil for

Now I'm confused.
