This may be of help to other diesel drivers.

I got a bit of rough running from the engine on the overrun (going downhill or in slow traffic with only slight throttle opening). At first I thought 'dirty fuel filter' or 'dodgy diesel'. Anyway, it turned out to be the linkage on the back of the injector pump (nearest the cylinder head) had disconnected itself. This apparently is the 'Low-load advance mechanism' which presumably advances the injection timing under low load driving conditions, as mentioned above.

I got a new linkage from a diesel injection specialist (Mid-Ulster Diesel Services, whom I can highly recommend :thumbup:) for the princely sum of
