New brake system for my car... is it possible?

Featured Replies

how odd, the 312's fit behind 16" vRS and the 16" elegence wheels.

Although, slightly bizzarely, unless you have a rare 130 Elegance or L&K, you can't fit 312s to any diesel without changing the hubs (despite the wheels having the clearance)!

Yes, the model of Spider alloys is just fine, but it seems Intra doesn't work.

See the RS brakes here...in combination with 17" Spider:

How is the upgrade?

Was it worth it?

is it really an upgrade if you are using the same calipers, and therefore the same pads? Surely you need to increase the pad:disk surface to get more bite?

You are increasing the heat disipation and the leverage on the spinning mass IIRC, I'll try and find the bit I wrote about it....

Ah yes;

Disc diameter is important because the further the calipers are from the centre of the road wheel, the greater the leverage ratio applied to their action ( force time distance. Also, because braking friction produces heat, which the disc has to absorb and disipate, the larger the disc the larger the physical mass of metal (ignoring carbon discs) and the greater the energy that can be absorbed for any given temperature rise.
