Asr Button

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

i am new in the forum and i found it very interesting , i have a question about a Fabia vrs.

I bought it one week ago and i haven't understand what is the meaning of ASR button i read the instructions on the book they gave me with the car, but doesn't refer anything about this button. Any help?

Many thanks

ASR = Automatic Skid Reduction (or something like that). It's a very simple traction control system that works by cutting the power if you spin the wheels.

When you start up ASR is switched on by default. If for any reason you want to switch it off, you press the button and an indicator lights up on the dashboard to show that it is switched OFF (not on as you might expect).

Also could mean And Spin the Rims.... Sorry I am bored. I'll get me coat.

Whatever you do, do not press it.

unless you're into trying to make you're best 0-60 times on an airfield somewhere ;)

Got ESP on mine - and although it is generally less likely to cut power annoyingly, if you want to pull away sharpish with a little controlled wheelspin, it goes off.

The A2 I've got back (again) which has some kinda launch-control ESP. Not 'proper' launch control but the ESP can be turned off below certain speeds, then after driving off without it enabled, I seem to remember at about 40ish mph, it turns itself back on again.

On the Fabia I can turn mine off after the engine is started & keep it off. Must admit I don't tend to though, unless accelerating for a bit of fun ;)
