Any thoughts on Meshing about with the grille?

Featured Replies

I've searched for all threads on Mesh placement on the grille, Radiator opening, fog light areas, etc both here and on WWvortex. So no kittens or angels were hurt in the making of this thread..

A valuable point from our old friend Lummox in a past thread mentions that the so-called frontal "crash bar" is a piece of relatively flimsy steel that is in fact no more than a mounting support for the front bumpers. He actually advocated chopping the centre piece IIRC.

I wonder if people who have been "into" mesh fitting on their cars could post a few pics, tips, comments, etc so us mere mortals can learn more....

Also, IIRC a member or two have even cut away the centre of the "crash bar" to make a neat showpiece of their FMIC setup.

I happen to have an el-cheapo plasma cutter which would make short neat work of re-modelling the bar.

I'm not actually gonna do anything radical until the car is upgraded big-time but as far as airflow/cooling go, you can't do any better than a massive frontal opening with a neat mesh cover.

Whether it's in good taste or not, is not the major point of this discussion......
