not happy

Featured Replies

Yesterday i took my fabia to have another temp sensor fitted as it wasn`t starting properly again, i had a new one fitted in August.

The guy in the garage said it`s not the sensor but water. The wiring loom has to be taken apart as it`s full of water and corroding the electrics. Also the fan switch has sorroded and so needs a new one and also the electric window switch on the drivers door.

As this water in the loom is a manufacturing fault i still have to pay for it and this will accur time and time again.

Later this year i was going to buy the new shape Fabia or Roomster but don`t know if i should as these problems might happen again.

In all the years I have been a member here I have not heard of water in the loom. Temp sensors yes, but the loom is protected by tape, and the engine undertray should stop water of that quantity getting into the engine bay. Water and electrics should be fine because the cables are in a protective sleave, if its a joint thats the problem then a dealer would replace the whole loom, but an independant auto electrician will just fix the current loom.

Many thanks for the link, it`s opened my eyes on the fabia electrics and other faults.

I have emaild Skoda uk and told them what problems i have and lets see what they say.

If Skoda don`t help i`m affraid i`ll have to go Japanese for my next car.

No probs dude! On my particular car ive had a new battery and coolant temp sensor under warranty , new steering rack (almost

i`m affraid i`ll have to go Japanese for my next car.

Yep, my thoughts exactly for my next car. What's going on with the Fabia? Seems to have gone from seeming to be a well built car, to being a basket case. Or in the case of mine, a case full of water...

Yeah but Japanese what? The Colt CZT (actually made in Holland) i tried left me seriously underwhelmed , it felt like it needed at least another 30bhp. Suzuki Swift Sport? I,m not too keen. Honda Jazz? Brilliant reliability , but no performance variant. Toyota Yaris T sport? AFAIK it isnt out yet , and when it is will probably be more expensive than a vRS. Nissan Micra?...hahahahaha! (etc) Is there a Japanese hatch about the same size as the Fabia , that is fun to drive and reliable without looking too wierd?

We have been looking around and we can`t find anything Jap that is the same size as the Fabia, it`s either to small or to big.

We looked at the Yaris and it`s a great car, everything was right about it untill we looke dat the size of the boot, way to small even for a weeks shopping.

The only thing Jap that comes close is the Honda Jazz but it`s too pricey, i suppose we`ll have to carry on searching.

I was thinking of the new Jazz (diesel option is back), Yaris (now it's bigger) or Mazda 2. I like the Fabia vRS, but not impressed with the faults it's had. May also look to the Nissan Note.

I have looked at the Yaris and it`s a nice car but the boot is tiny. The boot in the Fabia is a good size as i can get to large suitcases in there. If i find a car with the same or bigger boot that`s the one i`ll get.

Still no reply from Skoda uk on this matter.

i have heard of water in the loom before on a fabia.... it's somthing to do with water gathering in the plenum chamber when they are blocked up with leaves, the water runs down and condenses in one of the elbows in the loom near the battery, to fix it, they just split the plastic tubing/tape with a knife and let the water run out

Cheers for that Tom, i`ll do that later.

Got an email today from a Anthony Gridley from Skoda uk about this and he say`s he`s looking into it.

He also gave me a phone number to call him tomorrow, i`ll ask him about them paying for the work.

I`ll update this once i`ve spoken to him.

good, you are lucky to be actually be getting anywhere with skoda uk...

let us know how it goes

I called them this morning and a nice young lady said that seh would ring me later in the day once she has spoken to the dealer who is fixing my car tomorrow.

10 mins later she rings back saying once they have seen what the problems are, they will ring her and she will ring me about what they are going to do about it.

I must say how good the customer service is from Skoda Uk.

Anymore news i`ll let you know.

I have been given a Fabia saloon as my courtesy car, i couldn`t believe the size of the boot, it`s huge.

Just had a phone call from Skoda uk about the water logged wiring loom. They said that because the car is 5 years old there`s nothing they can do to help with paying for the fault to be repaired.

I said the car may be 5 years old but it has only 15000 miles on the clock which should have nothing to do with a design fault. She just said that there is nothing more they can do.

So i`m very very  with them, and will now seriously have to look for another car but not anything to do with the VW group.:thumbdwn:

I pick my car up this morning at 10.30 from the garage saying it was done, so we went to pick it up. As we were coming home I tried to wash wipe the windscreen, the wipers came on but no water so we thought they drained it to work on the car. When we got home I filled the water bottle up and tried again, Nothing happened no water and I then noticed water on the floor. So rang the garage up and they said bring it round.

So back again to the garage, the guy there said that they will look at it in a couple of hours and I said " No chance, you will look at it now or I'll charge you for my time" in a very angry voice.

He said "OK give me 10 mins", then I saw the mechanic come out to the car and repaired it again, he forgot to put the water hoses to the jets back.

When the manager gave me my keys back he said "it's done now". He never said sorry about what happened or anything.

So I'm not happy at all with the garage and I'm not going back there again.

Today I'm

Now that i`ve calmed down from what has happened and the Fabia is back to normal, i don`t want to get rid of it as it`s a great car and there`s nothing out the that comes close to ride, comfort and boot size.

So looks like we are going to keep it for a long while yet.
