How to get power to amp

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get a positive power cable from the battery to an amp in the boot but can't find a way through. I've seen photos of how to feed the cable behind the glovebox on pimpmyskoda but can't get the skuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen off. I don't want to break it - can anyone explain how to remove it? I've tried but it won't budge.

Alternatively has anyone got any other suggestions on how to get a posiy=tive feed to the amp?

has your car got aircon ? if not there is a grommet next to the abs pump where the aircon pipes go through, i used this on my old 1.4 as no aircon, and the wire pops out under the glovebox, on my vrs though it was wipers off plenum chamber cover off, pollen filter out, pollen filter housing out, then their is a lovely big grommet behind it, push cable through, i then sealed up the gap with some sealant, then refitted everything, sounds a long time but its real easy

Yep - it has aircon so I'm guessing that grommet's in use already. If I could get the skuttle panel of it would be fine. Just don't want to break it...

I've done this recently myself. Removing the scuttle panel s pretty easy. The Skoda dealer showed me how to do it. If you prize the corner up with your fingers nearest the edge of the windscreen. Then prize your way along the windows only using your fingers. DO NOT use a tool, this can lead to the window breaking. Then you need to be a bit careful when you take it off around the edge of where the bonnet it screwed to the body. The panel comes off in one of two parts. Once off, remove the comer off of the pollen filter and take the filter out. This way it is easier to get to the grommet on the left hand side of the pollen filter.

Remove the glove box with a star screwdriver (5 Screws holding it in). Push the cable through the hole and it will come out near the top on the inside where the glove box came out from.

Make sure that you put the fuse close to the battery and lay the cable and fuse in the cable mangement tray up to the filter.

take off the plastic panel on the inside of the door at the bottom, again using a star screwdriver. This will release the carpet. Pull up the plastic edging along the door panels and lay the cables allong underneath.

Once done they need to be pushed/hit back into place for a good fitting. To put the scutter panel back in again, it's a bit fiddley again around the bonnet point. It will just need pushing back into place along where it fits into the clips.

If you have any problems or help with this. I advis to speak to your dealer, as I am sure they will help with this if you take your cable along with you to fit.

Phew - got the cable in at last! When I did the search earlier I spelt scuttle incorrectly hence didn't get many results!

Just one question BlueRiver - how did you get the cable into the cable maangement tray? Does it unclip or something? I found it fairly inaccessable.

Ignore my last post - I've found it simply clips off. Thanks for the tips BlueRiver, looks loads tidier now.

The amount of hassle I've had getting this cable through you'd think I was attempting to fit it blind drunk! It's not the case, honest!

I know how you feel.

I spent god knows how many hours trying to find an accessable gromit in the main engine bay.

The only other thing you may need to give the cable a little bit of slack just before the battery out of the tray, as the top cable holder on the battery hinges up when unclipped to take the battery out when dead.

Glad to be of help.

:)
