Waxoyling the Octy - Is it worth it? Do they have rust hot spots?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the bodys on the Octy need any waxoyl? I think the rear arches look a little exposed, other than this area are there any rust hot spots?

Thanks all.

I wouldn't.

Waxoyl needs regular clean and repeat treatments every few years and if you don't get it right you end up making things worse by blocking drain holes etc.

Nope, I'm yet to see a rusty Octavia, I'd leave it alone if I were you mate. :)

Ditto, Ive had a look underneath and the underseal looks pretty hefty.

Plus the whole thing is galvanised anyway.

I wouldnt bother, in 4 years of owning my vRS I got no rust anywhere even on the underside.

The estate tailgate is prone to rusting....

Whereabouts?

I don't think I've seen a single rusty octavia or fabia

My 52 plate Octy had a tiny bit of rust on the rear door.

This was on the black trim dividing the 2 windows.

There was a rust spot below the rear wash wipe on my 2001 octy, when it was 3 years old.

Skoda UK sorted it out under warranty.

My 03 estate has signs of rust between the tailgate and glass. Not a lot, but it is

there. Our local dealer stated the it would be a new tailgate but as I will be rid

of it soon for a newer one, I declined the offer :)

That should read...

Just above the rear wash wipe, the transition area between the tailgate and the rear screen. (Estate)

As stated above, must be a common fault?
