Starting after engine transplant

Featured Replies

Have just fitted a new, well, secondhand 38k mile engine into my 02 Octavia 110tdi, obviously doing this, I've had to disconnect the fuel lines from the diesel pump, does anyone know the procedure or starting the car, do I just put the key in and let it pump the fuel through itself, or do I have to prime the system somehow, Its not like my old rover diesel with the small hand pumpy thing.

Thanks

Mark

No Primer on it. just make sure the battery is well charged, and if you have time to do it put some derv in the fuel filter before you put it on :)

The air will get stuck in the pump, you could draw it through but see how you get on turning it over. If it doesnt go crack the injectors off a touch and spin it over until diesel comes out.
