Does Vagcom measure torque at the wheels?

Featured Replies

Yes? It's just I did some logs this evening whilst bored, and I couldn't get the torque to go much above 400Nm. Most of the readouts were 390+, with one 404Nm. If this is at the wheels then I'm happy my usual 360lb/ft at the flywheel is still accurate. If its 404Nm at the engine, I need to be worried.

With the yanks all liking to measure HP at the wheels, I figure this could be the issue here.

Oh, and doing logs on vagcom is fun. :D

VAG-COM itself doesn't measure anything, it just tells you what your car "thinks". In general these torque values are less real and only for ECU internal calculation purposes. Of course these values do NOT represent the values at the wheels...

You have a PM;) .

:iagree:

It calculates what the torque should be given the air/fuel in/mixture and some basic "heat engine" sums.

In that case, I shall not be too fussed. Car feels as quick as ever, so not bothered.. Thanks for the PM Bryan.

bit of a thick question,

but how can i get my vag-com to do a log of bhp tourque and intake and engine temperature?

is it something to do with vag-scope?

cheers john

Andy at Ross-Tech put this together sometime ago. Maybe this will help you:

Block 20 measures torque against RPM. From this you can convert NM to lbsft. Then X by RPM all over 5252 =BHP.

Block 7 measures Fuel temp, intake temp and coolent temp.

Jason I've never had vag-com measure over 410nm. Think this is the limit.

I've never had vag-com measure over 410nm.

This may be a point of semantics, but: VAG-COM doesn't "measure" anything. It reports data which the control module in your car has measured or calculated.

Thats what I meant oops

right at 4347rpm vag-com shows 338nm of tourque, so by calculation does this equal 206bhp? cant be right cos all i have done is remapp. or is this engine bhp not wheel hp?

thanks john

Sounds about right. Both a Celtic and a Custom Code remap have similar results in vag-com.

What remap you got?

my own re-mapp, used a flasher lead to read the map then emailed it off to a tuning company. 70 quid later i recieved the modded map back and i reloaded the map back onto the car. job done:thumbup:

I was thinking in doing this with a compnay abroad.

Which company have you used if you dont mind me asking. PM me if you want.

A polish company by any chance?

I've been having a play around with vag-com and kpower and was wondering if there is one measuing block that will give me rpm and speed?

At the moment i've been logging blocks 06 and 20 but the timestamps are slightly out between the two blocks.

I've done two runs so far which have both consistantly shown 221hp@4500rpm and 306lb/ft@ 3200rpm  :D

Nope its a Uk company he's used. But i know the polish one your thinking. May even be giving it a go this year. ;)
