Squelching vRS

Featured Replies

What is the squelching noise as I'm about the start the car on a morning?

It happens when you turn the ignition to stage II and all the lights come on lasting for about a second....sounds like fuel being moved about but in a rubber glove.

I started the car this morning whilst the drivers door was open and it sounded like it came from that grill looking thing underneath the drivers side of the car near the sill. Was quite loud with the door open.

fuel pump priming the system :D

lol, I wondered this too :D

Ahh ok. So it's normal. That's good.

I've heard fuel pumps buzz or humm before but not squelch. :)

What is that thing underneath by the way? That grill thing under the drivers side.

The grill is the fuel cooler. Diesel returning to the tank from the engine could be too hot for the plastic fuel tank, so it can be cooled before it is returned to the tank.
