Sticking with Skoda

Featured Replies

My first Skoda was a Fabia VRS. I read a few road tests which were generally good and went for a road test. I was sold, brilliant car. A year and a half later, the Fabia has been p/exed for the Octavia VRS.

It was a hard decision. The Fabia was fun and frugal, but upcoming events in my life demanded more carrying capacity. So it was off to Station Garage at Ewhurst in Surrey for a test drive. I must stop doing this, it seems that every time I drive a VRS, I end up buying it......

The two cars are quite different to drive obviously. The Fabia had some real mid range grunt, but the FSI engine in the Octavia just seem relentless from almost zero revs all the way up to the red line, and very smooth. I will have to re-adjust my driving style again. The Octavia does actually feel a lot more planted on the road, it feels noticeably heavier and less (dare I say) 'twitchy'.

My new Octy Estate has an absolutely massive carrying capacity - just what I needed. It has 18" alloys, Dual zone climate control, cruise and comes in 'racing blue'.

I will miss the Fabia, it got me in to the VRS range and haven't regretted it for a moment. So here I am looking forward to reading the Octy 2 forum more regularly.......

Thanks for reading - I feel like a kid again

Congratulations on your new purchase - enjoy it!

Good choice of car, my friend purchased one of these in black majic and I now want one

Enjoy it:)

Pretty similar to my own story.

Had the Fabia vRS and loved it. Drove the Octy II vRS and really wanted one.

You want to thank yourself lucky you were only bitten by the demo car, I had people teasing with remapped ones.

Permission to join this Fabia vRS to Octavia vRS club?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the 15 months and every single mile in my Fabia but decided that I didn

Hope you enjoy the Octavia as much as the Fabia.

Out of interest did you get your Fabia remapped?

Regards,

James

Well I haven't joined the Fabia VRS - Octavia VRS club

But I have to Fabia Vrs - Octavia 2.0 Pdi Elegance club

Been down a slightly different route. I swapped my Fabia vRS for an Octy vRS diesel. Taking a bit to get used to the differences - the Octy is much more refined than the Fabia but also a bigger lump to handle. Still running in engine so feels a bit slower with a bit more turbo lag. 600 miles so far on M6/M1 have sold this as a terrific motorway cruiser.

Had the Octavia a week now and am very pleased. Yes I did have the Fabia remapped (Custom Code Stage 1 - 175 bhp) which made it a fast car which is what the Octavia is. I miss the "grunt" and the economy of the Fabia but I find the linear and smooth power of the TFSi engine quite intoxicating and as I'm not paying for my fuel now the economy issue isn't a problem. IMO the Octavia's handling is much better sorted than the Fabia and the brakes are well up to the performance capabilities which hand on heart I couldn't say was the case with the Fabia especially after remapping. Tried all sorts of tricks to get the wife to take the Fabia but she has an auto and won't change - never mind someone else will be having some fun soon.

Congrats on the purchase, brand loyalty seems to be getting even stronger now with the new vRS Octy having kept many in the fold as our lives mature slightly!
