vRS - scavenging and exhaust wrappping

Featured Replies

I was just clearing out some old VR6 bits and noticed I've got a nearly full roll of Thermotec exhaust heat wrap. I know that high EGT's can be a problem and i'm not sure how much benefit the scavenging effect will have on a Tdi......

I was wondering if it would be worth doing on he vRS...Has anyone done theirs?

lol talk to anyone with a suberb 2.0 TDI with DPF ;)

The Fabia exhaust manifold is a) cast lump and B) short, so I reckon not much effect on turbo spool or performance.

...but I know nartheeng...

Might be worthwhile as part of a plan to keep temps down in the under bonnet area though.

I was thinking turbo back...

WW_VRS has been looking into it. Wait for his input. :D

Hmmmmm, I have a ceramic coated(internal) 4 branch and thermowrapped on my Golf, I wonder if the ceramic coating would make a difference on the fabia:confused:

from the manifold to the turbo try to keep in as much heat as possible, after the turbo try to loose as much heat as possible....

wrapping the manifold/exhaust in heat wrap will have no affect on scavenging at all, but it will make the under bonnet temperatures lower

I've not done it (yet) but I've got the materials ready and waiting. It is my intention to wrap the exhaust at least 'under bonnet'.

Whether it's worth wrapping the rest - probably not tbh, but I might do it anyway to get hot air at the back

In seriousness, the main reason I'm doing this is to try to get some heat out from the under-bonnet area. If you've already got the materials it's not a bad idea, if you don't I probably wouldn't spend it, although there ought to be some benefit :)
