Advice needed buying a new Octavia vRS

Nice one, that's put my mind at rest! Now I've just got to be carefull I don't prang the Alfa in the next couple of weeks!

As Mark says you shouldn't have any problems it's just a nice to have.

What's them, then? Any pics...?

Went up to Progress Skoda in Bedford this afternoon and got some pictures of their vRS TDI demo with the B14 alloys. They look fantastic as I'm sure you will agree. They have a high gloss anthracite, sort of smoked glass, finish. Much sharper than plain silver and so much more cool than black.

Having them on a black car doesn't really do them justice. I've seen them looking great on Race Blue, but think they will look best on Corrida Red or Sprint Yellow.

Technical bit; they are 8J rim width as opposed to 7.5J of the factory option Zeniths. One bonus of these is that, as they are dealer fit, you ought to be able to do a deal on tyres to get the brand you want.

18" - B14s (dealer fit):-

PS> Apologise for hijacking this excellent thread with these wheels.

PPS> A BIG thank you to Terrence (the Guv'nor) and Sean of Progress Skoda for getting their car ready for me and allowing it to be photo'd.

You're right - I can't really see a difference in those photos from the standard Zeniths. Cheers, tho :)

Didn't realise the RS TDI came out early enough to have green calipers?

The RED car, with the factory option 'Zenith' wheels, is an '06 reg vRS TFSI (not TDI).

The black car is a 2007 vRS (TDI as it happens), hence the Red brake calipers. This has the B14 wheels.

Ah - for whatever reason when I read your post last night the pics of the black car were not showing. Hence my confusion...

And looking again, although I quite like the style, they accentuate the ride height problem that the vRS has (purely from an aesthetic point of view).

Lowered by at least 3cm on those rims it would start to look pretty menacing...

Tbh, I prefer the Zeniths, although the slightly smoky finish on the others looks good.

Hi Mark,

No problems; I was using photobucket for the first time and had a few glitches with the html codes so didn't get all the photos uploaded at the same time. :o

BTW - OK the RS4 wheels are good but IMHO 19s are too far on an Octy and what exhorbitant price will they be - I bet at least

Each to his/her own; I prefer the 'Rally' look to 'Street Racer'.

OK - you could lower the ride height a tad BUT the springs will then, IMHO, get too short and therefore TOO stiff; the vRS is fine as it is and doesn't need making into a trackday only car.

18s or 19s, what's needed to set them off is lower suspension. If I had spare cash that I could spend on styling, that'd be where I'd go. As it is I'm having a hard enough time just to afford keeping the car on the road...

I was offered a 2006 vRS Diesel or vRS Petrol with 18" boots and dual zone climate control by Merritts of Aylesbury this week for
