VRS ARB bushes

Featured Replies

:( The front anti-roll bar bushes started to squeek on my 52 plate octy Vrs last week, so after reading the many threads on here about the bushes being problematical I thought I'd strike while the iron was hot and get on and change them.

I got the new bushes from my local dealer last week but due to the weather I hadn't got around to changing them until today, once I had the car in the air all seemed to be going great until I went to fit the new bushes, they seemed to be the wrong size! a quick phone call to the dealer and they assured me they were the correct ones, they even tried them on a new bar they had in stock.

So after measuring the internal dia with a vernier I put the car back together and drove back to the dealers to try and sort out the confusion. whilst looking at the bar they had in stock I mentioned that their one didn't have an extra bit of sleeving where the mounting sits, just then the chief mechanic walked in and immediatley shed light on the problem. Apparentely Skoda knew of the problem where the sleeving breaks up and allowes the ARB to move around and did a redesign of the ARB, so guess which one I have fitted? Yep the early one and the only cure is to buy a new ARB and bushes. How much I hear you cry?

Can you see from this ****ty picture, if I have the newer version ARB?

:thumbdwn: From the look of it Martin, thats the old type with the plastic sleeve just poking out by the rubber

Changed mine because it was annoying me to a 23mm Neuspeed one with poly bushes:D

Sorry to say Martin but thats the same as mine, the bit you can see by the bush is the sleeve that breaks up!
