Fabia TDi

Featured Replies

Hi I was driving my Dads Fabia TDi properly for the first time last night. The TDi engine still really impresses me, but I have to say that I am still not a convert to the the Fabia in general. It still seems to me to be less well designed ergonomically than the Felicia that it replaced. The cabin is very small for a car as large on the outside as the fabia, the dash in particular looks like it would be more in place in a larger car.

The handling of the car was however quite an improvement over the Felicia, but I think that a large part of this is the relatively high power of the TDi for a super mini sized car.

May be I am to hard to please and have been spoilt by the Octavia, but I would have to say that I would not recommend any model of Fabia that over laps with the price range of the Octy. The greater room, comfort and looks of the Octy more than out do the gadgets you get with the Elegance version of the Fabia.

You ain't trying to creat contriversy again are you?

I actually think that the Fabia is the better looking of the two compaired with the Octy. When I see them both on the driveway the Fabia's smoothed look is a little bit nicer. You have to remember though if I wanted an Octy for 12K I wouldn't be able to get something as quick, and economical or as well equipped. If I wanted an Octy equivalent to my Fabia I'd be looking at

now in briskoda general william!

FlyingScot perhaps there is something wrong with the steering in the Octy you have driven?? The steering in my Dads furby is no lighter than in either Octy I drive. Looks are of course dependent on individual taste, but I have always thought that the Octy is one of the best looking cars on the road, while the Furby is OK but nothing special in looks.

Doubt it the Octy's been like that for over 2 years, and others are the same (so I'm told). The Fabia does have light steering because a few people who have tried it all say the same thing. The Octy's steerings not overly heavy, but definatly heaver than the Fabia.

The Fabia's steering is dealer-adjustable for feel.

The Octys steering is not heavy at all. I came to Octys from a non PAS steering Felicia, now that had heavy steering. Also my wife had until a few weeks a go a Ford Feista with PAS. The steering in this used to feel light when I was used to the Felicia, however once we had the first Octy the Feista steering felt heavy!

My dads Furby is definitely no lighter than the Octy steering, perhaps (as I have heard it can be adjusted) the PAS in your Furby needs turned down a bit. Steering that is too light reduces your ability to feel what state the road is in.
