Koni FSDs on vRS Octavia

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted Koni FSD shock absorbers to their vRS Octy yet?

I have just ordered a vRS TDI hatch even though I find the ride, on certain road surfaces, a bit fidgety and jiggly. I am told the springs are specific to the vRS which leave the option of changing the shocks to get a softer ride - but I clearly want to keep the firmness to drive in a suitably 'brisk' manner. The Koni FSDs ought to do this.

Has anyone any experience of these?

Hi

There is a group buy on at the moment on here.

We have these fitted to our MK5 Golf

The handling was so much better , and these are the same for the MK5 and the vRS2

The handling was improved and you do not feel the jiggle with this suspension as you do with standard

Worth looking in to definately , we was really impressed with the differnces on our MK5

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the info. Is that a mk 5 Golf GTI you are referring to?

I'll have a look at the Group Buy thread though; might decide to wait on that and see what the feedback is from these buyers.

I asure you , you will not be dissapointed ;)

To hell with it; found some articles and other forum feedback on the FSDs via google and have made a decision - Buy the FSDs and am in on the group buy!

Thanks for your advice Sarah; sorry not to be able to come up to Manchester but my son is at University in Portsmouth so it made sense to go to JKM.

Hey Mate

Dont worry about it , I am just glad that you come to that descision , and also helps if you can save money at the same time

Thumbs up on getting in on the GB

Had these fitted yesterday in conjunction with Eibach springs and cannot believe how bloomin' good they are. Fantastic mod for anyone thinking about it and even if you're not start saving your pennies, you won't be dissapointed

Has the ride height been altered Steve?

Some pics would be excellent if you wouldn't mind?

Cheers

Yeah, I will post some up over the weekend but my car is absolutely filthy at the moment so you'll have to be patient ;)

Thanks mate

Mine's a dirty beast too :D

Got some work to do tonight. Car is running like poo. Never let your parents borrow your car and "granny" it after filling up on 95 RON cack.

Gotta let the ECU know that I'm behind the wheel again

Sorry to be thick - Group buy??????

Can someone enlighten me and direct me to the appropriate location on the site.

Bl**dy hell, I knew they could make the car handle better but it even looks a different colour too!!

Doesn't look so low as to be impractical, but enough to make it look like it should have in the first place. Nice work...

How does it drive?

Bloomin' fantastic :D , handles even better and cornering is a joy!.

The looks are arguable now perfect.

If you consider the gap between tyre and wheelarch it is now equidistant ALL the way around the tyre, whereas on the 'standard' springs there is a taller gap at the top of the wheelarch. (From Eibach's spec this will be 20mm less on the vRS and 30mm less on a

an other Octavia than standard).

But IMHO I prefer the slightly 'Rally' look of the standard setup.

How does it drive?

Got to be a degree improved 'cos of the lower C of G and stiffer springs, plus I dare say the FSDs are taughter on the handling front.

BUT one of the main features of the FSDs is their 'trick' of giving taught handling with a smooth ride; whereas most 'sport' dampers stiffen the ride as well, often to an unacceptably firm level.

On the standard vRS I find the ride too firm and jiggly particularly on broken and corrugated surfaces. How is it now?

PS> Thanks for the pics.

Most envious, I am...
