Stains

Featured Replies

Just a quick Question. Does anybody have any idea on good products to remove ink stains from a Fabia's uphostery by any chance?

Cause somebody has put ink on the passenger seat....

Ball point or 'real' ink - ball point will be harder to get off as it's sticky.

How old is the stain?

I think it is ball point, and it's probably days old. It's been removed partially. I think I'll ;ook in the house see if there are some stain removers, 1001 upolstery cleaner made hardly any difference! :(

I think diluted multiclean might do the trick.

I've put on some stuff I found kicking around. Seems to have removed most of it although packet did say it may need a second application. I need to remember not to leave bust pens in my bag!

Whatabout that Vanish Oxiclean stuff? Makes light work of an ink stain on the advert... :D

Went to Tesco but they didn't have any of it earlier. Must try ASDA if this stuff doesn't shift it. Only worry is colour fasting.

The seats should be colour fast, otherwise you'd get blotchy patterns on you if you sweated on them. Not that I'm a sweaty driver or anything... :D

Wonder if your dealer or a benign ETKA owner knows a price for replacement seat covers in case I'm wrong... ;)

I've tried this stuff on allsorts of things, but with zero results. Forget it. It's no good for anything.

I've had good results with Autoglym upholstery and interior cleaner. Try that.

When I was insulating the boot of my fabia vrs, I managed to get some dark grease-kind stains on the white fabric.

Sprayed a tiny bit of MC2 on a cloth and it went away straight away.

Maybe I should have diluted it a bit, but even pure, it hasn't bleached the fabric, but all the blackness is well gone.

A big  to Mark :D

Ball point ink is soluble in alcohol. If you can get some "wood naphtha" or industrial grade (i. e. undyed) methylated spirits, try that. Don't use the common-or-garden purple meths - the dye will just make things worse.

There's a tip here http://tips.tipking.com/cleaning/tip_61.shtml which suggests using hairspray.

Tried Vanish oxy action and it got rid of the stain first time! Well impressed, that it worked on a two week old black ink stain. You can still see it ever so slightly but unless you knew it was there....

However some stuff that I used previously has left a big watermark which will require me to use that stuff all over the whole seat to remove it :D
