1 year old VRS, replace steering!!

Featured Replies

Took my 55 plate VRS Octy into Skoda at Macclesfield last friday to sort some minor problems, (covered under warranty i hope!)

The girl in reception, 'Polish' i think, said that all things were checked and could be sorted.

However she also said the mechanic has said the steering is out and needs looking at and may require replacement. !!!???:thumbdwn:

I probed her for more information and she couldn't explain and that on investigation this could be confirmed.

Could anyone tell me what could be wrong witht the steering as car has only done 11,000 miles and i cant tell if anything is wrong as the car drives / steers ok to me!

Just spent

I would say you are covered...

Warranty should cover it :D

Is the tyre wear uneven or something like that? It could just be the wheel alignment tha needs adjusting?

Chris

You haven’t banged a kerb have you?

You may have knocked the steering geometry out.

Is it a MKII??

If so then there are issues with the Steering Rack on earlier cars which are replaced under warranty. They will have taken some date from it and contact Skoda.

If it's a MKI then I don't know I'm afraid.

You haven

If you've only had the car 2 weeks or so, then I'd say you're covered under sale of goods unless the problem was pointed out to you by the seller before anything was signed.

I hope it's MK 1 at 11k :)
