I have been looking on here at previous posts about replacing the gearknob. Some of the posts mention replacing a clip and I have looked on the vag parts website found the section for the gearstick, but got totally confused as I couldn't work out which of the parts is the one I'm supposed to be looking for!

Can anyone help?

The bottom of the gearknob is a collar which fits over the top of the gear lever. There is a circular metal clip which wraps round the collar, compressing it so it won't slide off the lever. The clip is often destroyed when the gearknob is removed - mine has a cable tie instead.

I'm trying to find the part number so I can order both the gearknob and clip at the same time, has anyone else order the clip and know the part number (or knows which part it is on the vag parts website)?

In all honesty a small hose-clip seems more secure than the quick-fit crimped factory ring and doesn't show at all...

If you buy a genuine accessory gearknob it will probably come with the clip anyway. The one I bought did.

Cheers for your help, I'm in a bit of a car tidying up phase at the moment. I'm looking to get a new bonnet badge (the old ones about to fall off and has definatly seen better days), does it come with anything to attach it on and if not how has anyone else attached it?

did mone this weekend used a jubilee clip lot less hastle than the crimp one to fit.
