The last 10k miles! 3xdmf's & Clutches and a turbo

Featured Replies

:thumbdwn: I've been a massive fan of the octy 2 estate since my first test drive. and promoted the car as the ultimate motorway muncher I do about 40-50k miles a year, I have talked 2 guy's int buying the same car 1 elegance 1 ambient both estates. I did the first 50k mile with only a new gear **** and seatbase foam. now after 3x dmf's and clutches and a new turbo tomorrow all in the last 10k miles I am no longer a satasfied customer.

What is going on to fix the DMF's

I dont know if I am being sent down the garden path here, but I was told this week that the wanted the car for the whole week monday long test drives tuesday fit new dmf and clutch, wed & Thur for more test driving.

I was also told they were fitting a newly engineered 3rd gereration DMF!! for 2.0tdi

Is this a once upon a time or what?

Ah, a man who does the same sort of mileage as me.

I had 2 mk1 Octavias, an RS and an L&K diesel. Both were pretty good. I drove a mk2 and wasn't as convinced about their robustness so I didn't buy one.

As for ultimate motorway mile muncher - I think I have it now :D Oh and it's pretty good on the twisty stuff too :)

3rd Generation DMF?

What is the difference between this and the first and second.

Turbo just into stock 2x weeks back order!!

is there run on turbo's now,

when there is no stock it means 1 of 2 things they never break so you dont need to stock or there is a problem with the part and cant get enough of them for the demand.

I think there have been a fair few failures.

Failures of what stu?

Turbo's

my turbo was changed @ 24k miles.... I was rather shocked as im not that spirited a driver ;)!

KKK charger too.

Are they still using KKK or did they move to garrat etc for the newer cars?

I thought the DMF's only went faulty on the 2.0 TDI's till mine has proved me wrong, cars running like a shaking bag o s**te and getting worse. Still hopefully that with this I have found out what was causing the vibration in 3rd gear for the last 25k miles and 11 months. Do skoda replace the clutch at the same time as the DMF if its had a fault for this length of time as the vibration cant have been doing it any good?

Justdoit - They recomended replacing the clutch but wouldn't pay for it, which annoyed me. It was £200.

3rd Generation DMF?

According to the mechanic at my local independent garage, the third generation DMF being developed by some companies is.... a kit to convert back to an SMF!

Now that's what I call progress.

He also said all of the manufacturers were having a nightmare with DMFs, so I'm hoping it's an evolutionary stub that will be dropped soon!

As I said on another thread, at least VAG have the decency to recall them, mine's cost me

Man that's gotta suck :(

Really hope you get sorted out, bad luck all round in that kinda mileage as well

Just got my car back today, having the pleasure of a 1.4TDI Roomster for 2 1/2 days and all I can say is wow what a difference. I always thought something wasn't quite right in the transmission dept. of my 4x4 and I was right, the cars drive pickup is now totally smooth, the bulking into 1st gear has gone along with a load of vibration the car has always suffered from whilst in motion. Service manager said the DMF was a right mess and it took them ages to clean out the grease from the housing. I got a new clutch fitted FOC too, probably because I have had this problem for over 25k miles.

That's great news  Good job by the dealer too :)
