Steel spare wheel

Featured Replies

4 alloys on the car, then make the spare a speed restricted steel item. What's that all about?

Anybody selling standard 17" alloys?

It kinda makes sense. There's a possibility that sooner or later you'll either be running different tyres from the ones it left the factory with and/or the tyres will be directional. Because of the potential consequences of a mis-matched tyre or mis-directed directional / assymmetric tyre, it reduces the risk on Skoda's part to put speed warning stickers all over the wheel. The reason it's steel is most likely cost reduction, although it does provide an added incentive to get the 'original' tyre repaired / replaced which will be safer...

At least its a full size spare and not one of these 'get you home' wheels that audis supply their cars with. (comparing my dads Octy II and his old 05 plate A3.

A spare is called a spare for a reason. You only use it as a spare when one of your standard wheels is being repaired or you have a flat going somewhere.

But why all the speed warning stickers on a full size spare ???

I dont agree with it however as when you have a full size alloy wheel (such as Superb) it doesnt have warning stickers over it.

A much discussed topic, many theories but no conformation.
