I was refering to a remapped Fabia, however I didnt state that.

Indeed. I mentioned it = the wife's car has a AMD remap, so circa 160bhp anyway.

Yes, and I admitted MY bad.

I have clearly said that 'I' will be cynical until proved, I am not forcing my beleifs on others.

The benefits that are gained from it(remember this is in MY opinion) are far from staggering, at best i noticed a little less soot, and if I did notice different throttle response/top end, then it couldnt have been much because I sure as hell cant remember it now.

Like stated previously, for the small outlay its worth it simply for the reduction in smoke alone, and If there is a 'noticable' performance gain then thats a bonus too.

i have been in my mate dave's one pre and post pd160 intake. he noticed that for a week or so the mpg went down to something like 35mpg ave then went back up to 43mpg.

cruise on the m/way was less overall mpg but at n/s/l was much better (48-50). not a huge difference in acceleration but my mate did notice that there was a slight difference in the torque delivery. nothing like being claimed by some.

he also says that he needs a remap and will probably not change back to the other pipe.

incidently he noted the original pipe was lying in the passenger footwell when warranty work was carried out at a main dealers and the warranty remained intact. bonus! he said.

I know someone selling a bmc carbon for much cheapness :D

Halfords Ripspeed do a copy of the CDA for

I would have thought that it would make a negligable difference to a stock engine, but after remapping, the intake could become the limiting factor, so any improvement from fitting a bigger intake would be very large.

Chris

im new to the forum but where would you pick up thid pd 160 pipe?

Well, with the power I want to push I do think that (perhaps) the oem airbox, green filter and cupra intake will not be as effective at getting air in as a cone filter pointing right at the air flow, and it going round only one shallow bend, using silicone piping. Compared to the oem setup which kind of goes in, slightly right, up through the filter, then left.

I think I will speak to Mr Mikeyboy first, and see how his BMC is getting on. :)

From a seat dealership.

Can you elaborate on this please? I assume you've tried it? I wouldn't mind getting some info about it before I commit to getting one. I've seen the one in Mikeyboy's Audi, and it looks sweet and I should think gets more air in than the standard setup?

(Unless the air coming in is dictated by the turbo, not the air intake?)

Wasnt Star performance's car (rsmikes car now I think) Have a Carbon intake thingY??

yup

Do a search on Cupra Intake.

I am not convinced at all by the PD160 intake. I have it fitted to my vRS and noticed no difference in power. I fail to see how it gives any more air to the engine given that there is a piece of plastic which is smaller in diameter than the original OEM intake. I believe this piece of plastic is the limiting factor.

I think the mod improves the feel of the car, For me the pipe and green filter made it pull smoother. Ive now got a Turbo back system, With the PD160 it pulls to 4k really strong and without the Pd160 its like a slug.

But, your car isn't remapped and the wife's car is? I can see that it'd be a pointless upgrade on a stock Fabia VRS.

IMO anything which allows the engine/turbo to pull more dense air and colder air is worth having.

Probably/maybe worth a couple of percent to power and power delivery.

Hi mate im new here, so regarding wat you were saying about restriction of airflow will increase the smoke.Well my Fabia VRS was remapped a few days ago 180bhp.So my question is would you recomend i should get this INLET PIPE FITTED? Ifso can it create any implications to my car in the longrun? THANKS

Oh and your spot on wat you said. If anyone is looking for a huge difference in performance i really recommend a REMAP "im like a WEE boy again"

Forgot to quote message ITS NO. 41

No need for a RR - there IS a difference in the way the power is delivered. Less spike at the low end, more keen to rev at the higher end.

Please note I am NOT claiming more bhp/torque is achieved, it is the way in which the power/torque is delivered.

To get significant increases in both power & torque you need a tuning box or remap.

I would say the difference is quite noticable, but it won't turn it into a high-revving beast - i.e. be realistic about the effect, it is not THAT great in it's own right.

Regarding remaps though, it DOES make a difference for those as the restrictive air intake will be a fair bit more smokey.

You cannot show the amount of smoke on a RR printout, I don't know if there are any RR printouts to show the difference either in all fairness though.
