AMD one-click generic remap figures

Featured Replies

I have the AMD generic remmap on my Fabia vRS.

I have never had it RR, nor had the previous owner. So if the generic map going to be the same on each fabia I was wondering what figures people had experianced.

I have the cupra thingamy and the green filters as well.

TIA

Emily

Between 160 - 170bhp and about 260lbft

It's also got a really steep torque curve.

Thats not a large power hike considering the 2 or 3 cars I've seen with this generic map smoke like something not right.

287.51 ft.lbs from a generic AmD map at Awesome rolling road. That is impressive. I might look to get one!!

They smoke less with the filter. The AMD remap is fine if a little harsh with the way the torque kicks in.

Mine smokes like a very smokey thing.

My red Fabia smoked a bit wid a Jabba Remap, the tailgate was always black lol, nice smooth map though

It's probably over fueling then. Speak to AMD if your concerned, They will customise your map if you need them to.

Worth checking the air filter isn't filled with dirt, if it is a green filter I'd clean it, if it's a paper one replace it.

Also do you have the PD160 air intake? If not that's a worthwhile upgrade, most remaps kinda assume you've got one of those :)

Might just be enough to get shot of the worst smoke. That said, some types of fuel just smoke more than others, not even necessarily supermarket ones either ;)

Good point, you know this is supposed to be done at least every 5k?

It is a green filter. How do I clean it? Where is it in the engine bay? Can I clean it in my washing machine?

Got one of them thanks

Are you joking?

14k and counting, never done it :o

FFS.....

You need to get a kit or at least the Green oil (This and ONLY this must be used). Take the airbox top off and remove the filter, brush the crap off it and get a bucket with warm water and either the proper Green cleaner or some washing powder dissolved in it. Wash and rinse thouroughly. Filter must then be put to dry (It must be completely dry) Some people use a hair dryer, some people leave it on a radiator overnight I like to put it in a 50 degree oven for 15 mins (Seriously).

You then apply the Green oil ensuring a frugal coating over the whole filter.

Put it back in and your ready to go.

Yeah after 14k you'll find virtually NO airflow :P

My recommendation - get another one and drop that in. Take the dirty one out, use something like oxyclean (IIRC Stu used that on mine) and get the proper oil as per Decron's post. Make SURE you DONT over-oil it as it WILL mess up your MAF, which isn't the cheapest (about 70 quid+) and it is easily damaged.

The smoke is because there is too much fuel for the amount of air that manages to get in.

If you are not prepared to do this kinda cleaning, I'd go for the paper filter and replace it every 10k (rather than the standard 40k suggested). It will work much better than a green filter that hasn't been cleaned for 14k :D

A good point is that I probably ought to get mine cleaned/replaced

Thanks for the reply.

I remember someone saying something about this when I first got the car. Went to Halfords and ask for filter cleaning oil, got told it didn't exsit.

The air filter is in the top right hand corner as you look at the engine, right?

The car is not smoking more or less since I got it, and I feel sure that the previous owner would have checked this often as he knew a lot about cars and did a lot of things himself.

Suggestions?

14k is too long between cleans on a green filter - it will be clogged up badly :)

The air filter is in the box on the right hand side of the engine, if you follow where the PD160 intake goes (hole at front of car near radiator at the top goes into hose which attaches to the air box) that's the right box.

There are two big screws that hold it down.

However as you are the owner of a strut brace you'll find it is a pain to get the box open enough to get the filter out. It CAN be done ;)

Can always ask Mr Jason to pop by, he's not all that far away IIRC :)

Yuck, I found it!!

Looks Well dirty

It's fair to say it could do with *some* cleaning

That will have a nice impact on the amount of smog produced :P

I'd probably go for the 'drop it back in, get new one, swap & clean' route.

Don't drive without an air filter whatever you do, it's not good for the turbo amongst other bits :)

If you have a local dealer you may want to pick up a paper one and drop that in whilst you clean the green filter & get the cleaning/re-oiling kit.

Is it just me or are those leaves on the wrong side of the filter?

It looks fine as the sealant around the filter is on the other side. Bare in mind, if you have a problem with your car overfueling. AMD have now gone.

There are a few one click and amd mapped cars on here

JKM Rolling Road day Gallery

to give you a rough idea.......AMD did say it was a mild map ...usually about 160bhp

What is overfuelling exactly??

How will I know if my car is doing it?

Exactly over fuelling is putting more fuel into the engine than is required.

Symptoms of this is lots of black smoke and reduced performance.
