Just had a quote to extend mine,

I'll be doing the same when my warranty expires. Will probably extend for an additional couple of years (£500-600ish doesn't go very far on car repairs these days!)

When i bought my astra, i was offered 2yrs unbridled warranty cover through RAC for 300 quid, took that allreight, used it last year for an EGR valve, cost was 210 quid fitted, it runs out in august so will be checking it in for a major look over before it expires.

dunno if this offer is on the RAC website......

this is the type i got ????

RAC Warranty

If the RAC policy is anything like that of the AA, then there's an upper limit of £500 per claim. Not much use if the engine blows up! It's worth comparing different options when looking at extended warranties, because the level of cover varies a lot.

Warranty Direct are well regarded IIRC.

I have had cover with them in the past.

Their cover costs about the same as the dealer extended warranty, but I bet they won't gripe so much about modifications as most dealers would (and you get the work done at the dealers).

The only stipulation I've seen on Warranty Direct is that none OE parts are not covered by their warranty, unless agreed in advance.

I bought my 04 vRS from a dealer in January and it had an extra years warranty shoved on it beginning next month as it's an 'approved used car'. The warranty is not quite the same as the original manufacturers 3 year one judging by the documentation I got through the post. I can't remember the exact details but it is a reduced level of cover from the original 3 year thingy.

I was offered £350 for 1 years cover. But that doesnt inc wear and tear. So if your clutch goes...

I think you'll find most warranty companies do not cover wear and tear (or they expect you to contribute towards the cost of replacement).
