New Fabia VRS, price versus what ya get

Featured Replies

Just a question mind.

What was the deciding factor that makes people buy a VRS against a different make/model.

I mean how much is a new Fabia Vrs say, 13000, alot of money to shell out on a car so why a Fabia Vrs.

Would scare me to death, i have only bought 1 car from new ( Fiat Punto, company perk, got 30% off at the time) but still was 9k and was back in the garage 15 times in 2 1/2 years, new clutch after 8mths.... so how confident are people when they decide to buy a Fabia Vrs for said money.

hope you understand the question, i at some point might buy a new one ????

I wouldn't buy any new car because of depreciation. Let someone else foot that bill and I'll happily take it off their hands after a couple of years. :)

The very good residuals were a major factor for me together with good build, performance and economy. There is no other car on the market that has this 'balance'

The thing is, those who bought their Fabia vRS's new are laughing. Back on a 53 plate, having covered 50k miles they will still be offered around £7k part ex. On a spend of £12500, thats £5500 depreciation over 3 years. Thats 56% retained value - simply amazing.

I think prices are starting to fall though, but I really do think that those who bought new and have already got rid / will get rid soon, really did get a good deal.

Yep I'd agree that residuals have been, and continue to be, very very good on the VRS. Historically this is due to supply and demand, and I can't see this changing for the near future. It's still a while until the new VRS arrives, but even then it depends on demand for the new model. Once they stop making the existing VRS, if demand is still high, residuals will still be very positive.

I personaly bought mine (2nd hand) due to a combination of... performance, economy, size, and value. I guess you could say that the overall package was very tempting - the VRS excells at being 'good' at everything, without being necessarily brilliant in any of them!

Basically, there's still nothing out there with the same blend of build quality, performance (or should I say tuning ability) and economy for the same money.

That's why I bought mine and that's why I'm struggling to find something to replace it with.

It's the perennial question, what to buy and when?I don't have a Fabia VRS - or any other Fab come to that - but like the idea of a sporty diesel with good build quality. Don't like hatches that look gratuitously 'hot' with low profiles and flared arches but I'm not the VRS core market.

Agree that 13k is a helluvalot of dosh for a hatch model that starts at less than half that price. There are some seriously nice used cars at £13000 but if it had to be new I'd be very tempted. Really I can't be bothered at the stress of exactly when to sell a car to avoid major depreciation, should I be putting so many miles on and all that stuff.

Less thank £3k to change from a 3 year old one to a new one.

Thats not bad in my book

I concur :)

Really? They'd give you ten grand for a 3 year old car against a new one? That's amazing residuals.

Yes, depends where you bought from because if you buy from broker at

I kept mine for 18 months and sold it for £500 less that I bought it for. Not bad going.

Great car, lots of potential.

Someone can have mine for £7500 or their next best offer :)
